Our Origin Story

Before Celestial Numeracy officially became a reality, the Celestial Numeracy founders taught for many years in urban Title 1 and suburban elementary schools where they faced the common struggle to efficiently rectify their students’ mathematical skill deficiencies. As the Celestial Numeracy founders transitioned into campus administrative and instructional specialist capacities, this numeracy program evolved from a select classroom to a school-wide program.  After unprecedented academic success at their school, the numeracy program was embraced by other elementary and middle schools in Central Texas.   

Upon a chance encounter at a professional development meeting, the founders of Celestial Numeracy met the Formative Loop developers and a discussion of a partnership ensued.  The Formative Loop founders’ expertise in internet and technology applications provided the digital medium for the numeracy program to expand beyond local geography.  With the partnership of the two entities, hundreds of thousands of children are provided a daily opportunity to build math skills easily and successfully.
